In July 2024 we successfully launched the first foundations of the Health Business Services (HBS) Portal (the Portal), allowing applicants to apply online for new licences under the Narcotic Drugs Act 1967. Since its launch, we have seen new applicants successfully set up their online account and commence the licence application process via the Portal.
This is part of our commitment to delivering more transparent, evidence and risk-based regulation, while reducing the regulatory burden on industry.
New functions coming in 2025.
In the next system update, current medicinal cannabis, and narcotic drug manufacturing licence holders will be able to apply for a licence variation within the Portal.
The Portal will also be updated with a suite of simplified forms, making it easier for you to do business with us.
We will be progressively adding more digital forms and enhanced functionality, enabling you to complete a range of tasks more quickly and conveniently online.
