Privacy
The Australian Department of Health and Aged Care is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 including the thirteen Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in that Act. The APPs replaced the old Information Privacy Principles (IPPs) on 12 March 2014.

The Australian Information Commissioner is the statutory office-holder responsible for the regulation of privacy laws in Australia in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988. Your email address
The Office of Drug Control will only record your email address if you send us a message by email, or if you register requesting notifications by email. If you do not want your email address to be recorded by the ODC, you can send a postal mail or facsimile to the address listed below in the section Queries, concerns and further information. Your email address will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it, and will not be added to any mailing lists without your prior consent by way of a specific request in writing. We will not use or disclose your email address for any other purpose, without your prior written consent.
Cookies
The Office of Drug Control uses 'cookies' for maintaining contact with a user through a website session. A cookie is a small file supplied by the ODC, and stored by the web browser software on your computer when you access our site. Cookies allow us to recognise you as an individual web user, as you browse our website.

To provide our news we use MailChimp, which provides online tools that can be used to create, send, and manage emails. The ODC will only use this information to:
- create, send and manage emails relating to the work of the ODC
- measure email campaign performance
- improve the features for specific segments of customers

The Office of Drug Control applies a range of security controls to protect its website from unauthorised access. Health Business Services portal
We may collect, store, use and disclose your personal information in the course of performing our functions, including to provide business services via the Health Business Services portal (portal).
When you register for a Health Business Services account, the Department will collect personal information, including your name and contact information, for the purpose of setting up your authenticated account and providing you with access to ODC business services via the portal.
When you access ODC business services via the portal, the ODC will collect personal information which is reasonably necessary for the performance of our functions. For example, when you complete a licence application or related form, the ODC will collect and store personal information contained in the form in order to process your application and manage ongoing compliance obligations and related business transactions in accordance with relevant legislation.
When we collect your personal information via the portal, we will only use and disclose it for the purpose for which it was collected, or for a secondary purpose where authorised or required by law. We will not disclose personal information collected through the portal to any overseas recipients.
In most cases, we will collect your personal information directly from you. Where we collect personal information about you from a third party, we will only do so with your consent or as authorised by law.
